Our Credit Guide
Before we arrange finance for you, the law says we have to tell you who we are, how we get paid, and what you can do if you are unhappy with us. That is what our Credit Guide is for, and you can read the whole thing below.
What a Credit Guide is
A Credit Guide is a disclosure document that every licensed credit assistance provider in Australia has to give you. It is not marketing, and it is not a contract. It exists so that before you rely on our advice, you already know the things that could reasonably affect how much weight you give it.
The Finance Team is a trading name of Online Showroom Pty Ltd, which holds Australian Credit Licence 551493. We are a broker, not a lender. That means we do not lend our own money and we do not make the approval decision. We work out what you are trying to do, compare what is available across our lender panel, and put a recommendation to you.
What is in it
The Credit Guide covers the things you are entitled to know up front:
- Who we are, our licence number, and how to contact us.
- The kinds of credit assistance we can provide, and the lenders we can access.
- How we are paid, including commission we may receive from a lender if your loan settles, and any fee you would pay us directly.
- Our obligation to assess whether a loan is not unsuitable for you before we recommend it, and your right to ask us for a copy of that assessment.
- What to do if you are not happy — our internal complaints process first, and the free external scheme you can escalate to if we do not resolve it.
The part people skip, and shouldn’t
The section on how we are paid is the one worth actually reading. Brokers are usually paid by the lender when a loan settles, and the amount can differ between lenders. Knowing that lets you ask a fair question — why this lender and not another one — and it is a question you should feel comfortable asking us. If the answer is not convincing, push back.
Equally worth reading is the complaints section. If something goes wrong, there is a defined path: raise it with us first so we have a chance to fix it, and if that does not resolve things you can take it further at no cost to you. Knowing that path exists before you need it is the point of telling you now.
